  • The ongoing WebmasterWorld thread has a nice uptick in chatter this weekend starting around Saturday but staying strong throughout Sunday on ranking changes and traffic changes.

It looks like the changes started later Friday when member, backdraft7, said:

Looks like somebody tripped on the network cable on our server again. NO traffic for long periods today. 20 and 30 minute periods of absolutely NOTHING! Well, at least it can't get any worse that zero? Can it? Come on what gives? I'm still in the serps, but ZERO? Did every on the planet die?

Several SEOs and webmasters also noticed major changes afterwards.

Another SEO added, "Traffic STOPPED completely 30 minutes or so ago. WOW is all I can say..."
Like all ranking fluctuations discussed in these threads, it doesn't mean there was a global update or anything. It can be site specific or even a bug with the site or Google.

    One other Webmaster added:

We saw similar patterns yesterday. Not "zero" traffic, but huge drops in traffic at times during the day. Mostly in the afternoon as the morning started off normal (Central time zone). I kept checking the news to see if some disaster had struck that was taking everyone's attention away because like you, our SERPS hadn't changed so it made no sense.

Honestly, I don't think this will be a major update like anything Penguin or Panda related. But I'll stay on top of it.

  • Google Panda Update 25 Seems To Have Hit

There are many webmasters and SEOs believing right now that Google has released an update to their Panda algorithm late yesterday.

We’ve reached out to Google to confirm or deny the Panda update, as we’ve done 24 times previously; but this time, Google told us they are unlikely to confirm future Panda updates since Panda will be incorporated into their indexing processes.

It would not be surprising if this was indeed a Panda update since Matt Cutts, Google’s head of search spam, did say at SMX West that a Panda update will be rolling out this Friday through the weekend. Matt then said although an update is expected this weekend, don’t be surprised if you don’t notice it because the Panda updates are going to be more integrated and less noticeable in the future.

I am not sure if this last push was the last manually updated Panda refresh or if it is already fully integrated into the normal Google indexes process. I think this was Google’s last manual push and they will, from now on, most likely not do manual pushes of the algorithm in the future.

The last Panda update we had confirmation on was Panda #24, so this one would be coined Panda version 25.

Here are all the releases so far for Panda:

Panda Update 1, Feb. 24, 2011 (11.8% of queries; announced; English in US only)
Panda Update 2, April 11, 2011 (2% of queries; announced; rolled out in English internationally)
Panda Update 3, May 10, 2011 (no change given; confirmed, not announced)
Panda Update 4, June 16, 2011 (no change given; confirmed, not announced)
Panda Update 5, July 23, 2011 (no change given; confirmed, not announced)
Panda Update 6, Aug. 12, 2011 (6-9% of queries in many non-English languages; announced)
Panda Update 7, Sept. 28, 2011 (no change given; confirmed, not announced)
Panda Update 8, Oct. 19, 2011 (about 2% of queries; belatedly confirmed)
Panda Update 9, Nov. 18, 2011: (less than 1% of queries; announced)
Panda Update 10, Jan. 18, 2012 (no change given; confirmed, not announced)
Panda Update 11, Feb. 27, 2012 (no change given; announced)

Panda Update 13, April 19, 2012 (no change given; belatedly revealed)
Panda Update 14, April 27, 2012: (no change given; confirmed; first update within days of another)
Panda Update 15, June 9, 2012: (1% of queries; belatedly announced)
Panda Update 16, June 25, 2012: (about 1% of queries; announced)
Panda Update 17, July 24, 2012:(about 1% of queries; announced)
Panda Update 18, Aug. 20, 2012: (about 1% of queries; belatedly announced)
Panda Update 19, Sept. 18, 2012: (less than 0.7% of queries; announced)
Panda Update 20 , Sept. 27, 2012 (2.4% English queries, impacted, belatedly announced
Panda Update 21, Nov. 5, 2012 (1.1% of English-language queries in US; 0.4% worldwide; confirmed, not announced)

Panda Update 24, Jan. 22, 2013 (1.2% of English queries were affected; confirmed, announced)

  • Google's Panda Update Graduates To Rolling Update

Last night at SMX West, Google's Matt Cutts announced that the Panda algorithm will be more of a rolling update, as opposed to what it has been as a manually pushed out update.
I am not sure what I am going to do with my time now.

I am no longer going to be able to get confirmations from Google about Panda updates. The updates are going to be less transparent to webmasters and SEOs. They will likely happen more frequently and have less of an impact on the overall search results. At least that is my take.

So the update that is rolling out over the weekend might not be that noticeable to you and I.
I should note, we asked in the past if Panda was a rolling update and it wasn't.

So it looks like now it is.

Here are the past Panda updates:

    Panda #24 on January 22, 2013
    Panda #23 on December 21, 2012
    Panda #22 on November 21st
    Panda #22 on November 21st
    Panda #21 on November 5th
    Panda #20 on September 27th
    Panda 3.9.2 on September 18th
    Panda 3.9.1 on August 20th
    Panda 3.9 on July 24th
    Panda 3.8 on June 25th
    Panda 3.7 on June 9th
    Panda 3.6 on April 27th
    Panda 3.5 on April 19th
    Panda 3.4 on March 23rd
Panda 3.3 on about February 26th
Panda 3.2 on about January 15th
    Panda 3.1 on November 18th
    Panda 2.5.3 on October 19/20th
    Panda 2.5.2 on October 13th
    Panda 2.5.1 on October 9th
    Panda 2.5 on September 28th
    Panda 2.4 in August
Panda 2.3 on around July 22nd.
Panda 2.2 on June 18th or so.
Panda 2.1 on May 9th or so.
Panda 2.0 on April 11th or so.
    Panda 1.0 on February 24th

  • Typically, when Google shows a clickable headline in the search results, it pulls from your title tag meta data in the source code of the page. There are of course plenty of times where Google will rename the headline depending on the query.

What is new is that Google seems to be appending the brand followed by a colon before some titles or headlines in the search results. Here is an example:

Now if you look at the source code of this site you will see the title is not written this way:

Why is this happening, we are not sure. Google has not commented on this yet.

  • Google again and again new  updated serious of Google Panda. but its not official announcement . only this is  a idea that Google update new panda bcoz last few month google launch continuous update panda of every month. so this is a Sugess . So wait and watch of Google Official Announcement.

An ongoing WebmasterWorld thread has some chatter around an increase in GoogleBot crawl activity as well as some early ranking fluctuations.

That and we are just about the 30 day mark from the previous Google Panda update, Panda #24, we are suspecting a Panda update is about to be hitting today or tomorrow.
Normally, days before a Panda update is announced by Google, we see this type of chatter and GoogleBot activity. The issue is, it has been almost 5 months since the last confirmed Penguin update, so webmasters are unsure what is going on with that.

That being said, Mozcast showed some activity the other day, so did SERPs.com, however SERPMetrics doesn't show much, and now DigitalPoint shows changes (See "Search Engine Rank Changes") also but nothing crazy.

Is a Panda refresh about to hit us? I suspect so but only Google can confirm that.
