Today, Google launched a new keyword bulk editing feature in AdWords designed to make it easier to add, edit and remove keywords at scale. The feature builds on the bulk editing tools released last November.
Keyword bulk upload is accessible from the keyword report download window, shown below. When clicking the “Editable” box, an editable version of the keyword performance report will download. You can then modify the report and prepare it for upload.
The editable spreadsheet has an “Action” column. On the rows where you make changes, you input Add, Remove, or Set in the Action column. For existing keywords, you can change the keyword state, destination URL and keyword max CPC. Note, you cannot change the match type of an existing keyword, but instead need to mark the existing keyword with “Remove” and recreate it with the new match type in a new row and “Add” in the Action column.
To upload changes, navigate to the “Upload” tab located under the Reports and uploads section in the left navigation as shown below. You’ll notice a plus sign next to “Create an editable report” on the right side of the window. At this point, Keyword report is the only option given when it’s expanded, but this treatment points to more editable report options coming down the line.
Changes that have been uploaded can only be reversed manually. So it’s wise to take Google’s advice and save a copy of your original download before making any edits. Find more details and instructions on keyword bulk uploads here.
