Google: We Will Index It If It Is Not Spam

Google likes to index content, but many think Google only wants content that is the best - the rest, well, they don't want to waste space in their index.

That is really not true. Google loves to index content, as long as it is not spam. It doesn't have to be the best content in the world to be indexed.

Google's John Mueller said in a Google Webmaster Help thread that generally "unless the content is primarily spam (eg spun / rewritten / scraped content), we'd [Google] try to at least have it indexed."

This is in response to a site not being fully indexed over a long period of time. John said in this case, he is going to show it to the indexing team at Google because it seems like it possibly can be a bug.

Being indexed in Google doesn't mean you will rank in Google. But being indexed is a prerequisite to ranking.
